Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse with a strong background in Orthopedics to join our dynamic team. This position requires a proactive, adaptable individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

• Experience: Minimum of 2 years in an orthopedic setting is mandatory. First-time travelers are welcome provided they have experience with EPIC.

Preferred Qualifications

• ACLS Certification
• Charge Nurse Experience
• Level I Trauma Experience

Job Details

• Patient Ratios: Expect a nurse-to-patient ratio of 5-6:1, with the possibility of flexing to 7:1 in exceptional cases.
• Contract Length: Options for 13 weeks or longer, with end dates available through 2/27.
• Shift: 12 hour shifts from 06:45 to 19:15.
• Work Hours: Options for 36 or 48 hours per week.
• RTO Policy: A maximum of 7 days RTO allowed, but holiday RTO is not approved.
• Floating Requirement: Travelers may be required to float to any other medical surgical unit within the facility as needed based on census demands.
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend commitment is required. If a call off occurs during a weekend, make-up time will also be scheduled for a weekend.

Patient Population

The unit serves a diverse patient population, including Orthopedic, Neuro spine, Med-surg, and Post-surgical patients. The average daily census is 37 patients, staffed in 39 available rooms.

Special Procedures and Unit Details

This is a fast-paced unit that requires nurses to effectively manage and monitor pain management for orthopedic and spine patients. Note that COVID-19 patients are no longer cohorted and will be managed within various units, as necessitated, outside of intensive care.

Scheduling Options

The unit is open to providing block scheduling options, such as F/S/S or S/S/M configurations.
