ICU Registered Nurse (RN)

Shift Notes: 36 hours guaranteed per week.

Weekend Requirements: Minimum of 2 shifts required every other weekend.

On Call Requirements: None.

Job Description:

This position involves collaborating with physicians to develop and implement comprehensive care plans aimed at restoring patients to optimal health. The role includes providing bedside nursing care in the Intensive Care Unit and executing medical orders.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

• Assumes a leadership role by:
• Integrating evidence-based knowledge into practice.
• Delegating and coordinating nursing care tasks and assignments.
• Facilitating and participating in patient conferences.
• Identifying patient education needs related to ongoing care and discharge planning.
• Engaging in professional development by seeking educational opportunities.
• Teaching and guiding both professional and ancillary personnel.
• Mentoring new employees and students.
• Functioning as a team leader to ensure effective patient placement and task delegation.
• Communicates vital information clearly and effectively.
• Exhibits strong organizational skills through effective planning.

Qualifications:

• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience.
• Experience with open-heart surgery patients.
• Must be comfortable floating to the Emergency Department and step-down units.
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS.
• Preferred certifications: TCAR, TNCC, CCRN, SCRN.
• Travel experience is preferred.
• Experience with neurosurgical patients is a plus.

Attendance Policy: A strict attendance policy has been implemented. Any RN contractor who accumulates three attendance strikes will be terminated immediately. Extenuating circumstances may be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
