Registered Nurse (RN)

Unit Description

The Stroke Telemetry Unit is a high-acuity, fast-paced medical-surgical environment specializing in the care of acute stroke and complex telemetry patients. This 34-bed unit is designed to deliver evidence-based, protocol-driven care with a strong focus on patient safety, rapid intervention, and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Responsibilities & Expectations

Perform and document frequent neurological assessments, including the NIH Stroke Scale.
Monitor and interpret telemetry rhythms, responding to changes in real time.
Ensure compliance with stroke core measures, including dysphagia screening, education, and care plans.
Administer medications using Bar Code Medication Administration (BCMA) standards, with an emphasis on safety and accuracy.
Coordinate care with an interdisciplinary team, including providers, therapy, and case management.
Manage admissions, discharges, and patient flow in a high-turnover environment.
Maintain a constant focus on falls prevention, skin integrity, and overall patient safety.

Certifications Required

BLS (Basic Life Support)
ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
8 Hours of Stroke Training
