Nuclear Medicine Technologist

Job Summary:

The Nuclear Medicine Technologist is responsible for providing quality diagnostic imaging using nuclear medicine techniques. This role includes the preparation and administration of radiopharmaceuticals to patients, performing radionuclide procedures, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations and protocols.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide immobilization devices as required and operate Nuclear Medicine equipment accurately.
  • Evaluate radio images using the PACS system to confirm proper identification and diagnostic value.
  • Ensure radiation protection for self and patients in accordance with prescribed safety protocols.
  • Prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals and perform organ imaging and function studies.
  • Assist physicians in the therapeutic use of radioisotopes while maintaining safety standards.
  • Calibrate equipment and conduct assays for radionuclides.
  • Receive, inspect, and maintain records of radiopharmaceutical packages according to state and NRC guidelines.
  • Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the working environment to ensure contamination-free conditions.
  • Follow all NRC, state, and JCAHO guidelines and practices.
  • Participate in rotating assignments, including Cardiology and PET/CT as needed.
  • Perform clerical tasks related to patient studies using relevant systems such as EPIC and the Nuclear Medicine Information System.
  • Adhere to policies regarding attendance, punctuality, and professional behavior.
  • Identify and adapt care to the specific needs of diverse patient populations.

Qualifications:

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Minimum of 1 year of clinical experience in a busy hospital setting as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist.

Preferred Skills & Experience:

  • Experience in GE Equipment, SPECT, and SPECT CT.

Education:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Graduate of an approved School of Nuclear Medicine Technology required.

Certifications & Licensure:

  • Valid NJDEP license required.
  • ARRT or NMTCB registry required.
  • BLS certification by the American Heart Association required.

Schedule:

Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM. Availability for scheduled shifts, which may include weekends and holidays as needed for patient care.
