Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse to join our team in a specialized step-down unit. This role involves providing care for patients with active oncology diagnoses and various related conditions. The ideal candidate will be adept at monitoring cardiac rhythms and managing insulin protocols, contributing to the overall health and recovery of our patients.
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients in a corrections unit, ensuring safety and privacy.
- Monitor vital signs and assess patient conditions, particularly for cardiac health and dysrhythmias.
- Implement IV insulin protocols and manage insulin drips effectively.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to develop individualized care plans for patients with oncology diagnoses.
- Provide education and support to patients and their families regarding health management and treatments.
- Float between different units as required, ensuring versatility in care delivery.
Qualifications
- Current Registered Nurse license.
- Minimum of one year of nursing experience, with prior telemetry experience preferred.
- Certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) are mandatory.
- Strong skills in cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation.
- Ability to work nights, including every other weekend (Friday and Saturday nights).
Unit Details
This position is within a corrections unit, requiring access regulated by a Corrections Officer. Candidates must be comfortable working in a secured environment with inmates.
