Job Description

As a Registered Nurse, you will be responsible for providing high-quality care to assigned patients during your shift. You will work collaboratively within the Health System's mission, vision, and values, while adhering to policies and procedures. Your primary responsibilities will focus on assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care utilizing age-specific criteria. You will apply your clinical skills and scientific knowledge to make informed judgments in the care of patients.

Responsibilities

• Assess and monitor patient health, planning and implementing appropriate care strategies.
• Evaluate patient outcomes to ensure optimal health management.
• Supervise, direct, and educate non-RN staff, including LPNs, PCTs, and Unit Secretaries.
• Provide pre- and post-procedure care for patients with radial and femoral access.
• Manage chest tubes and other drainage systems, including their removal.
• Utilize advanced skills in cardiac monitoring, including reading and interpreting cardiac rhythm strips.
• Recognize and respond to changes in patient conditions, particularly in cardiac and pulmonary abnormalities.
• Assist with the management of temporary pacers and troubleshoot various oxygen delivery systems.
• Float to different units as required, based on skill level and patient care needs.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience.
• Post-operative open heart care experience is required.
• Critical care experience is highly preferred.
• Proficiency in cardiac monitoring with the ability to recognize significant changes in cardiac rhythms.
• Current active status of American Heart Association certifications: BLS and ACLS.
• Active Ohio RN License or Compact RN License must be maintained.
• Skills checklist must be current (within 1 year) and relevant to the Progressive Care Unit specialty.
