Job Description:

The ICU Registered Nurse is a vital member of the Intensive Care Unit, utilizing clinical judgment skills to assess, diagnose, and treat patient responses to actual or potential health conditions. This role involves the care of critically ill patients and requires a comprehensive understanding of various complex medical conditions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide high-quality nursing care to patients in the Intensive Care Unit.
• Utilize advanced clinical skills and critical thinking to make informed decisions regarding patient treatment.
• Engage in teamwork with healthcare professionals to promote optimal patient outcomes.
• Monitor and document patient conditions, treatments, and responses.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
• Support patients and families through education and emotional support during complex healthcare situations.
• Participate in ongoing training and education to maintain proficiency in critical care practices.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 1 year of experience in an Intensive Care Unit (floating experience not considered).
• Proven experience with EKG interpretation.
• Willingness to float to similar units as necessary.
• Experience in Neuro, CVICU, or Trauma care is preferred.
• Experience managing ventilators is preferred.
• Knowledge of Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT) and Balloon Pumps is preferred.
• Completion of a skills checklist within the past year is required.
• Current Michigan nursing license is required at the time of application.

Certification Requirements:

• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
• BLS (Basic Life Support)

Additional Information:

• This position requires a commitment to attending scheduled shifts, as there is a strict attendance policy in place.
• Every other weekend work is required.
