Mammography Technologist

Position Purpose: Responsible for performing breast imaging procedures, including mammography, stereotactic breast biopsy, breast ultrasound, and assistance with breast ultrasound biopsy. Adhere to MQSA and ACR guidelines for optimal breast imaging standards.

Essential Job Functions:

• Demonstrate knowledge of breast anatomy, pathological conditions, and safe radiation practices.
• Review patient requisitions for consistency with clinical diagnoses and demographic information for both physicians and patients.
• Utilize mammography and stereotactic equipment, following established protocols for procedures requiring contrast agents and sterile techniques.
• Conduct and document quality control measures to ensure equipment operates within safe limits per MQSA and ACR guidelines.
• Effectively communicate and educate patients throughout the imaging process, ensuring continuity of care.
• Perform breast imaging examinations, ensuring technical accuracy, and communicate findings to the radiologist.
• Schedule breast imaging appointments and coordinate exams to maintain quality patient care.
• Assist in managing departmental workflow to ensure timely completion of work assignments.
• Organize and monitor medical supply inventory to promote cost-effective spending within the department.
• Participate in educational events to promote breast health awareness.
• Assist in orienting new employees and healthcare professionals.
• Maintain 24 CEU credits according to A.R.R.T. guidelines every two years and ensure CPR certification is current.
• Exhibit the principles of a Just Culture and Organizational Values.
• Perform other duties as assigned while ensuring HIPAA compliance.

Experience:

1 year of experience preferred, with a background in healthcare strongly preferred.

Licenses and Certifications:

• American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) with Mammography (M) certification required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

Computer Skills:

Must possess or be able to obtain within 90 days the computer skills necessary for job-specific online learning, accessing forms and policies, completing online benefits enrollment, and other job requirements. Proficiency in English, including reading, writing, and speaking, is necessary.

This position requires the ability to encounter potential hazards common in a healthcare environment, including radiation, chemicals, biological hazards, and physical stressors.
