Job Opportunity: Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse (RN) - Night Shift

Location: Baltimore, Maryland
Facility: MedStar Harbor Hospital (MedStar Health System)
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Position: Labor & Delivery RN - Night shift
• Patient Ratio: 1:1-2
• Experience Required: Minimum 3 years (may consider 2 years)
• Charge Nurse and Preceptor experience required
• Float assignments possible to Postpartum, Couplet Care, and Level II NICU ("feeder/grower" assignments)
• On-call/Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Magnet Certified facility
• Scrubs provided
• First-time travelers accepted

Required Certifications

• BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or ARC certified
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
• Intermediate AWHONN
• C-EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) through NCC required; candidates without C-EFM must register for it during compliance phase or within first two weeks of assignment

Preferred Certifications

• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
• STABLE
• C-EFM through NCC

Required Skills and Experience

• Circulate for C-section
• LDRP (Labor, Delivery, Recovery, Postpartum) experience required
• Proven experience in Antepartum, Intrapartum, Postpartum, and Couplet Care
• Preferred skills: Triage, proficiency in sterile vaginal exams
• Baby Friendly hospital experience highly preferred

Health and Safety Requirements

• Flu vaccine required (strict facility policy)
• COVID-19 vaccination strongly recommended; declination requires mask-wearing for patient encounters
• Annual physical exam confirming ability to work without accommodations and free from communicable disease
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within required timeframe
• Drug screen within 90 days of start (excluding marijuana), updated annually
• Other immunizations/documentation required: Tdap, MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella), Hepatitis B, Varicella
• N95 Fit Test within 9 months of start, updated annually (client may complete onsite if needed)

Additional Requirements

• Valid state nursing license prior to start
• Background check within 90 days including criminal, education, and employment verification
• Two positive supervisory references supporting at least two years of experience within the last three years
• Completion of facility-specific orientation modules (Sitels) before hire date
• Competency exams (medication/pharmacology, dysrhythmia/EKG, color blindness) required within 3 years of start date
• Skills checklist and employment application with no gaps for 7 years required
• Photo for badge with specific guidelines
