Description
Job Opportunity: Apheresis Technician
Location: Boston, Massachusetts
Facility: Massachusetts General Hospital (Mass General Brigham)
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Perform donor registration, screenings, product shipment, whole blood collection, and automated platelet collections.
- Execute donor room procedures under the direction of charge nurse/tech following Standard Operating Procedures.
- Balance production, donor care, and quality requirements to meet annual blood collection goals.
- Comply with AABB standards, FDA regulations, and other regulatory agency guidelines.
Required Credentials & Compliance
Personal Health History Requirements (Must be completed prior to onboarding)
- Fit Test: N95 respirator fit test within 365 days of start date; updated annually. No religious exemptions.
- MMR Vaccination: Documentation of two measles, two mumps, and one rubella vaccine or two MMR vaccines, or proof of immunity via blood test.
- Influenza Vaccine: Required during flu season (Sept 15 - April 30). No exemptions allowed.
- TB Test: Documentation of TB skin test or negative QuantiFERON/T-spot blood test within 3 months of start date; updated if >6 month break.
- Health Statement: Physician statement signed by MD/DO/NP/PA within 365 days of start date; updated if >6 month break.
- Respirator Medical Clearance (RMC) Attestation: Required if fit test is required; must be completed prior to fit testing.
Optional/Preferred Personal Health Credentials
- Hepatitis B: Strongly preferred; record of 3 vaccines or proof of immunity or declination.
- Tdap Vaccine: Preferred within last 10 years and updated upon expiration.
- Positive PPD - Negative Chest X-Ray: Required if positive TB test.
- TB Symptom Survey: Recommended if positive PPD; updated annually.
Professional Requirements
- Criminal Background Check: Within 45 days prior to start; updated if >6 month break. Includes international searches if applicable.
- Massachusetts CORI Check: Within 30 days prior to start; updated if >6 month break.
- Resume: Must include past 7 years of work experience with city and state. Required for submission.
- References: Two recent references required, at least one supervisor or above in skillset.
- Skills Checklist: Required for submission.
- Confirmation of Assignment/POI Form: Required for all initial assignments and extensions; updated if start date changes.
- Education Verification: Verified through background check company; must verify highest level of education achieved.
- SSN Trace: Must be run with criminal check; includes addresses/aliases for past 7 years.
- National Sex Offender Check: Ran within 30 days of start and updated annually.
- Exclusion Checks: Ran within 30 days of start and annually; includes OIG, GSA, MassHealth, and NH Medicaid exclusion lists.
