Travel RN - Neurotrauma Unit

Unit Information

• Unit: Neurotrauma (Neuro-66817)
• Beds: 38
• Staff: 55 total
• Shift Staffing:

  • Day Shift: 2 charge nurses (non-patient care), RN ratio 4-5:1, 2 Patient Care Technicians (PCT)
  • Night Shift: 1-2 charge nurses (depending on staffing), RN ratio 4-5:1, 2 PCT
• Patient Ratios: Typically 4:1, sometimes 5:1 due to staffing
• Equipment: IV pumps, seizure monitoring, BiPAP, CPAP (mostly at night), glucometer
• EMR System: Meditech

Required Qualifications

• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
• BLS certification
• Strong med-surg background

Preferred Qualifications

• ACLS certification
• Neuro experience

Typical Procedures

• NIH/stroke and neuro assessments
• Fall risk assessments
• Tracheostomy care
• Feeding tube management

Unit Guidelines

• Follows Neuro Clinical Practice Guidelines for stroke (AANN)

Contract Length

• 13 weeks (approximately 3 months)

Additional Requirements

• Registered Nurse License
• BLS certification
