Description

Registered Nurse - Labor and Delivery (Travel/Contract)

Location: Clinton, Maryland
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse (Labor and Delivery)
  • Shift: 36 Nights
  • Patient Ratio: 1:2
  • Minimum Experience: 2 years
  • Travel Experience: Must have completed at least 1 prior travel assignment
  • Float Requirement: Must float to like units (e.g., Mom/Baby); travelers float before permanent staff
  • Schedule: No guaranteed set schedule; weekend and holiday coverage every other weekend/holiday as needed
  • Call Requirement: 36-hour contract call required (24 hours over a 6-week period); must be on premises within 45 minutes of call
  • Facility Type: Short Term Acute Care, Teaching Hospital
  • Total Staffed Beds: 338
  • Charting System: Cerner
  • Scrubs Provided

Required Certifications

  • AWHONN Intermediate
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • STABLE
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or ARC certified
  • Must register for C-EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) during compliance phase or within first two weeks of assignment
  • Preferred: C-EFM certification through NCC

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Circulate, FHM (Fetal Heart Monitoring), preceptor and/or charge nurse experience
  • Triage experience preferred
  • High-risk Labor & Delivery experience

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

  • I9 and E-Verify attestation required upon hire
  • Valid State Driver’s License if driving is essential to the job
  • Criminal Background Check within 90 days of start, including multi-state and federal checks
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks prior to start and monthly thereafter
  • Education verification for highest degree required by position
  • State nursing license verification required prior to start
  • Annual orientation safety manual acknowledgement
  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam within 3 years (must score 80% or higher)
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam within 3 years (80% passing score required) for applicable units
  • Color blindness testing required
  • Physical exam annually confirming ability to work without accommodations and free from communicable disease
  • N95 Fit Test within 9 months of start and updated annually (client may complete onsite if needed)
  • Immunizations and health documentation required:
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray (updated annually)
    • Tdap vaccine within 10 years preferred
    • Documentation of MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccines or positive titers
    • Hepatitis B titer, series, or signed declination
    • Varicella vaccine or positive titer
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption required during flu season
    • COVID-19 vaccination strongly recommended; declination requires mask use during patient encounters
  • Drug screen within 90 days of start (excluding marijuana), updated annually for extensions/returning candidates

References and Work History

  • Two positive supervisory references required, including one from the most recent assignment
  • Complete 7 years of work history with no gaps, including education, employment, licenses, and contact information
  • Minimum 2 years of experience within the past 7 years required

Additional Notes

  • Must complete facility-specific modules (SITELS) prior to start date
  • Float assignments may include similar units such as Mother/Baby
  • No guaranteed set schedule; flexibility required
  • Local candidates preferred within 60 miles of the facility
