Description

Travel RN Opportunity – Richmond, VA

Position Details

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Location: Richmond, Virginia
  • Employment Type: Travel
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks
  • Start Date: Must start on the 5th of the month

Unit Information

  • Unit: 5Atrium Ortho Joint Spine
  • Beds: 25
  • Patient Ratios: 5-6 patients per nurse
  • Staffing:
    • 4-5 Nurses per shift
    • 1-3 Patient Care Technicians (PCTs)
    • Department Secretary available 7am-7pm (3 days/week currently, hiring for 6 days/week coverage)
  • Type of Patients: Post-operative orthopedic patients (hip, knee, spine, other orthopedic procedures)
  • Equipment: General nursing equipment for med-surg and orthopedic post-op care
  • Documentation System: Meditech

Schedule & Floating

  • Schedule: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (3x12s), every other weekend required
  • Block Scheduling: Not guaranteed
  • Floating: Contract nurses will float to similar med-surg units as needed

Patient Care & Experience

  • Bedside shift report required
  • Safety rounding: 1 hour during day shifts, 2 hours during night shifts
  • Use of AIDET communication framework for all patient interactions
  • Emphasis on treating patients with courtesy, respect, and keeping them informed

Required Certifications & Skills

  • Certifications: BLS (Basic Life Support) required
  • Experience: Must have experience caring for post-operative patients
  • Preferred: Experience with Meditech documentation system
  • Advanced Skills: None required
  • Procedures: No specific bedside or unit procedures required

Dress Code

  • Navy scrubs
  • Any closed-toed shoes
