Description
CT Technologist - Boston, Massachusetts (Long-Term Assignment)
Position Overview
- Operate CT equipment (e.g., CT scanner, Power Injector, Laser Printer, Patient monitoring devices) to acquire diagnostic images for physician use.
- Level 1 trauma and Siemens CT experience required.
- Float among radiology clinics and divisions as needed.
- Prepare, position, and immobilize patients; use protective shielding as appropriate.
- Select proper imaging factors and image designated body parts.
- Explain exams to patients considering their physical and emotional needs.
- Deliver patient care within scope of license/training.
- Calibrate and verify equipment daily; report malfunctions.
- Perform venipuncture for contrast administration under radiologist direction.
- Execute Radiology Information System functions (scheduling, completing exams, transferring images).
- Participate in staff meetings, in-services, and maintain CEUs per Massachusetts licensure and ARRT requirements.
- May oversee and instruct radiography and nuclear medicine students.
- Prepare equipment rooms and stock supplies.
- Participate in research, quality assurance, and quality improvement projects.
- Assume on-call coverage and flexible shift/overtime as needed.
- Rotate within department, divisions, and off-site clinics.
- Transport and transfer patients per departmental guidelines.
- Use independent judgment and initiative under pressure.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience Requirements
- Graduate of an approved Radiologic Technology school.
- Current Massachusetts State Radiologic Technologist license.
- Registered or eligible for CT certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or equivalent.
- Must obtain and maintain ARRT CT certification within one year of employment start.
- Preferred 2-3 years experience as a Radiologic Technologist, including at least one year of cross-sectional anatomy coursework.
- Strong interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients under physical or emotional stress.
- Analytical abilities to understand imaging processes, techniques, procedures, and cross-sectional anatomy.
Contract Length
- Approximately 13 weeks.
Required Credentials and Compliance (Onboarding)
- Current Massachusetts Radiologic Technologist license verification (no conditional licenses).
- ARRT certification.
- BLS certification (AHA, Red Cross, CHSF, or Military accepted).
- Fit test for N95 respirator within 1 year, updated annually.
- Influenza vaccine during flu season (Sept 15 - April 30).
- TB test documentation within 3 months of start date.
- Health statement signed by a licensed provider within 1 year.
- Criminal background checks including Massachusetts CORI and national sex offender registry.
- Education verification.
- Respirator Medical Clearance attestation (if applicable).
- References: 2 recent, including at least 1 supervisor or above.
- Skills checklist.
- Candidate submission coversheet.
- MGB badge photo (color, recent, plain background, no eyeglasses).
- Additional background and exclusion checks as required.
Preferred/Optional
- Hepatitis B vaccination or immunity documentation.
- Tdap vaccination within 10 years.
- Positive PPD requires negative chest X-ray documentation.
This position requires flexibility, strong technical skills, and adherence to strict credentialing and health compliance standards. It offers experience in a Level 1 trauma setting with Siemens CT technology in a major academic hospital system.
