Description
Job Opportunity: RN Medical Center (Ciara Ready) - Contract Position
Position Details
- Specialty: RN Medical Center with strong proficiency in Neuro/ENT surgical cases
- Employment Type: Contractor
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
Required Experience & Skills
- Minimum 2 years of experience preferred
- Strong proficiency in Neuro/ENT surgical cases
- CNOR certification preferred
- Must know how to scrub
- Experience with robotic surgery (Xi) required; no training provided unless strong background and commitment for more than one contract
- Familiarity with the following surgical cases:
- Neuro/ENT:
- Spine surgeries: Laminectomies, ALIFs, fusions, discectomies
- Cranial surgeries: Tumors, VP shunts, subdural, EVDs (no setup required)
- ENT surgeries: Neck dissections with flaps, sinus surgery (Stealth Navigation), tonsils, tympanoplasty
- Navigation systems: Medtronic (cranial & spine), Medtronic Stealth (ENT), Stryker & Synaptive (cranial)
- Orthopedic fractures, anterior hips, total joints, ortho spine, hand/podiatry
- Equipment: Hanna Table
- General surgeries including breasts/plastics, vascular, laparoscopic, oncology, genitourinary, gynecology
Certifications
- Registered Nurse (RN) license
- BLS certification required
Work Environment & Support
- Level III Trauma Center with Level III NICU and Magnet Designation
- 21 OR beds
- Patient ratio: 1:1
- Support from charge nurse, leads, supervisors, and managers
- Charting systems: EPIC, Alaris, Pyxis
- Floating: Cross-trained to General Main OR specialty and Urology center; no floating to other hospitals/sites
Orientation & Scheduling
- Orientation: 1 to 1.5 weeks depending on team and shift
- Scheduling:
- Day shifts with variable start times between 5:30 AM and 7:00 AM
- PM shifts depend on position
- No weekend rotation required
- Holiday weeks: option to work four 10-hour shifts or take holiday unpaid
On-Call Requirements
- 30-minute response time
- 8-week call schedule (subject to change)
- Call slots vary by shift and specialty (General/Neuro/Ortho)
- End of shift (EOS) call and overnight call slots available
- Weekend call 1-2 weekends depending on specialty
Additional Information
- Surgical scrubs provided; scrub caps allowed but must be covered by surgical bouffant
- Free parking and shuttle service available
- Food options on campus include Starbucks and cafeteria
- No call rooms available
This position is not recommended for first-time travelers and requires a strong background in Neuro/ENT surgical nursing with robotic surgery experience.
