Description
Travel RN - ECMO/CVICU
Location: Austin, Texas
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM
Employment Type: Travel
Unit Overview
- Unit: CVICU (Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit)
- Number of Beds: 8
- Number of Staff: 25
- Patient Ratios: 2:1 or 1:1
- Typical Staff per Shift:
- Day Shift: Charge nurse + 4 RNs
- Night Shift: Charge nurse + 4 RNs
- Call Requirements: No call required
- Weekend Shifts: 6 weekend shifts per schedule for night shift (Fri/Sat/Sun)
Required Experience & Skills
- Specialty: Critical Care / CVICU / ECMO / Adult Critical Care
- Years of Experience: Minimum 1 year in specialty
- Must Have:
- Experience with cardiac monitoring and rhythms
- Experience with titratable drips
- Understanding of hemodynamics
- Experience with respiratory patients (ventilators, BiPAP, tracheostomies, Airvo)
- Experience with open heart surgery recovery
- Experience with ECMO, Impella, balloon pumps
- Experience with CRRT/SLED (Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy / Sustained Low-Efficiency Dialysis)
- Preferred: CVICU charge nurse experience
Certifications & Licenses
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- NIH Certification
- Registered Nurse License
Typical Procedures Performed
- Central line and chest tube insertion
- Bronchoscopies
- Tracheostomies
- Intubation
Work Environment & Culture
- Equipment Used: GE bedside monitors, Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis, Centrimag ECMO circuits, Impella CP & 5.5, Prismax CRRT machines, Tablo SLED machines, Maquet Intra-Aortic Balloon Pumps
- EMR System: Meditech
- Dress Code: Navy scrubs required
- Personality Fit: Team player, positive attitude, adaptable
