Description

Travel RN - Med Surg (Medical-Surgical)

Location: Denver, Colorado
Employment Type: Travel

Unit Information

Unit: Medical Telemetry (MedTele)
Floor: 6
Number of Beds: 33 rooms, up to 49 patients (some semi-private rooms)
Staffing:
- Day Shift: 2 charge nurses, 2 techs, 6-7 RNs
- Night Shift: 1 charge nurse, 1.5 techs, 5-6 RNs
Patient Ratios:
- Day: 4:1
- Night: 5:1
Equipment: Telemetry monitoring
EMR System: Meditech

Job Requirements

Must Have:
- BLS certification
- Medical-Surgical nursing background
Preferred:
- Experience working with spinal cord injury (SCI) patients

Typical Procedures

Wound care
Occasional bowel programs
Light burn care

Unit Highlights

Busy medical floor with a specialty in caring for surgical flap patients and spinal cord injury patients with stage 4 wounds requiring surgical intervention
Collaboration with burn unit to care for low-acuity burn patients
Use of some semi-private rooms during high census (not preferred)
