Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Labor & Delivery) - Travel/Contract

Location: Baltimore, Maryland
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Position Details

• Specialty: Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse (RN)
• Shift: Night
• Experience Required:

  • Minimum 3 years in Labor & Delivery (may consider 2 years)
  • Charge nurse and preceptor experience required
• Patient Ratio: 1:1-2
• Float Assignments: May float to Postpartum/Couplet care and “feeder/grower” assignments in the Special Care Nursery (Level II NICU)
• On Call/Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend

Required Certifications

• BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or ARC
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
• Intermediate AWHONN
• C-EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) through NCC (must hold or register within first two weeks of assignment)

Preferred Certifications

• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
• STABLE
• C-EFM through NCC

Required Skills and Experience

• Circulate for C-section
• Labor, Delivery, Recovery, Postpartum (LDRP) experience
• Proven experience in Antepartum, Intrapartum, Postpartum, and Couplet Care

Preferred Skills

• Triage experience
• Proficient in sterile vaginal exams
• Experience in Baby Friendly hospital settings highly preferred

Facility & Work Environment

• Magnet Certified facility
• Scrubs provided
• Charting system: Cerner
• First-time travelers accepted
• Flu vaccine required for all employees

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• Criminal background check within 90 days, including multi-state searches
• E-Verify and I9 documentation required upon hire
• Valid state nursing license required prior to start
• Drug screen within 90 days of start (excluding marijuana)
• Annual physical exam confirming ability to work without accommodations and free from communicable disease
• Immunizations and health documentation required:

  • Flu vaccine or approved exemption (strict guidelines)
  • Tdap vaccine preferred within 10 years
  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray as applicable
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) documentation or titers
  • Hepatitis B titer, series, or signed declination
  • Varicella documentation or titer
• COVID-19 vaccination strongly recommended; declination requires mask use during patient encounters

Competency Requirements

• Medication/Pharmacology competency exam (must score 80% or higher)
• Color blindness testing (online or in-person)
• Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (for applicable units) with remediation process if needed
• Annual orientation safety manual acknowledgement

Additional Notes

• Two positive supervisory references required, supporting at least two years of experience within the last three years
• Complete 7 years of work history with no gaps, including education and license information
• Skills checklist required prior to start and updated annually
