Description

Travel RN Opportunity – Telemetry Unit (6S)

Location: Austin, Texas
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
On-Call: No on-call required


Unit Overview

  • Unit Type: Medical/Surgical and Surgical Oncology Telemetry
  • Beds: 34
  • Patient Population: Young adult through geriatric (18+ years)
  • Patient Ratios: 1 nurse to 6 patients
  • Care Provided: Modified total patient care including cardiac telemetry monitoring 24/7
  • Typical Procedures: Chemotherapy (must be chemotherapy certified to perform)

Staffing

  • Day Shift: 1 Charge Nurse, 6 Nurses, 3 Patient Care Technicians (PCTs)
  • Night Shift: 1 Charge Nurse, 6 Nurses, 2 PCTs
  • Staffing Oversight: Nurse Manager and Director coordinate staffing with House Supervisor and Charge Nurses

Required Skills & Certifications

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) – Required
  • Medical/Surgical Experience – Required
  • Chemotherapy Certification – Preferred
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) – Preferred

Equipment & Technology

  • Welch Allyn Vital Signs monitors
  • GE Telemetry Monitoring system
  • Electronic Medical Record (EMR): MediTech

Work Environment & Culture

  • Dress Code: Navy scrubs required
