Description

Job Opportunity: RN - Medical Center ICU (Contract)

Facility & Unit Overview

12-bed ICU including triage
Level IV Trauma Center
Primary Stroke Center
69 total beds in the hospital
Location: Two River, WI

Experience & Patient Population

Minimum 2 years of experience required
First-time travelers considered upon review
Patient types range from neonates to geriatrics, majority are adults
Patient ratios typically 1:5, up to 1:6 rarely (acuity based)

Required Certifications

BLS (Basic Life Support)
ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
De-escalation training (MOAB or CPI)

Skills & Clinical Requirements

General Emergency Department skillset
Experience with chest tubes, drips, IV starts, phlebotomy
EKGs and cardiac rhythm interpretation

Unit Support & Resources

CNA support with a ratio of 1 CNA per 12 patients
No titled Charge RN in the ED; resource and lead RN available for support
Phlebotomy performed by ED RNs at bedside
Respiratory Therapist available in-house 24/7
Hospitalist available in-house 24/7
Telemetry available at bedside and nursing station (no tele tech)

Technology & Equipment

Electronic charting system: Epic
Monitors: GE monitors
Infusion pumps: Alaris
Medication dispensing: Pyxis

Scheduling & Orientation

Contract length: 13 weeks
Orientation: 1 shift on the unit to learn flow
Weekend rotation: every other weekend
Time off: Typically up to 7 days can be approved, subject to staffing needs
No on-call responsibilities
Holiday work varies based on unit needs

Parking: Free and onsite
Additional certification: ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course) preferred

This position is ideal for experienced ICU RNs comfortable with trauma, stroke, and emergency care in a Level IV Trauma Center setting.
