Job Opportunity: Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics - Travel/Contract

Location: Manchester, New Hampshire
Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 3 months)
Employment Type: Travel/Contract


Position Details

  • Shift: 12-hour day shifts (6:00 AM - 6:30 PM)
  • Hours: 36 hours per week accepted
  • Schedule: Every other weekend required, no on-call
  • License: NH license required; subs with NH license pending will be accepted
  • Minimum Experience: 1 year
  • First-time Travelers: Accepted
  • Charting System: Epic experience required

Facility & Department

  • Acute care community hospital with 300 beds
  • Units include ER, adult med/surg, adult critical care
  • Respiratory Therapy driven protocols
  • Patient age group: Infants through geriatrics required; neonates preferred
  • Pediatric ER and pediatrics only if competency demonstrated
  • No level 3 NICU use

Responsibilities

  • Nebulizer treatments, chest physiotherapy (CPT)
  • High flow oxygen, non-invasive ventilation (NIV)
  • Cough assist, intrapulmonary percussive ventilation (IPV)
  • Assist with intubations and bronchoscopies
  • Mechanical ventilation management
  • In-house transport of mechanically ventilated patients
  • Continuous albuterol administration

Required Experience

  • Trauma, community hospital, ER, adult ICU experience required
  • Preferred: Level I trauma center, teaching hospital, PICU, acute pediatric care
  • Respiratory care skills: airway management, medication administration, ventilator management, ABGs, oxygen therapy, suctioning, pulmonary toileting, nebulizer, BiPAP, CPAP
  • Bronchoscope experience preferred

Certifications & Licenses

  • Required:

    • BLS (AHA Provider)
    • NH State License
  • Preferred:

    • ACLS (AHA Provider)
    • PALS (AHA Provider)
    • CRTT
    • RRT

Important Notes

  • Travelers who have ever been employed by any facility associated with this health system are not eligible, regardless of separation length or duration worked.
  • Background checks and verifications are required within 30 days of start, including social security verification, criminal searches (excluding NH counties), education verification, and others as per facility policy.
  • Drug screening (10-panel) required within 14 days prior to start.
  • Physical exam within 1 year prior to start required.
  • Annual fit mask test required for clinical candidates.
  • Immunizations required: Tdap (within last 10 years), flu vaccine (seasonal), TB test (2-step or equivalent), MMR, Varicella, Hepatitis B (or waiver). Religious and medical exemptions allowed with proper documentation and approval.
  • Pass/fail testing for dysrhythmia/ECG and medication competency exams may be required depending on unit assignment.
  • Respiratory Safety Clearance questionnaire required prior to start.
  • Two professional references within the last 3 years required, including one from a supervisor.
  • Various facility-specific waivers and attestations may be required for immunizations and safety compliance.

This is a travel respiratory therapist position requiring at least 1 year of experience with adult critical care and emergency respiratory care in a community hospital setting. The role involves managing ventilators, assisting with procedures, and providing respiratory treatments across a broad patient age range. Epic charting experience and NH licensure are mandatory. The contract is approximately 13 weeks long with 12-hour day shifts and every other weekend work. Compliance with extensive background checks, immunizations, and competency testing is required.
