Position Summary

• Operate and maintain cardiopulmonary pump, Cell Saver, autotransfuser, and intra-aortic balloon pump during invasive cardiovascular procedures.
• Provide assistance to physicians and surgical staff as needed.
• Deliver patient care during surgical procedures involving open-heart surgery and other cardiovascular interventions.
• Set up and operate life support equipment including heart bypass pumps, extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), artificial heart consoles, and intra-aortic balloon pumping systems.
• Manage anticoagulation therapy and advise surgeons on cardiac drug administration.
• Support auto transfusion equipment for cardiovascular, orthopedic, vascular, and other surgeries.
• Maintain knowledge in anatomy, physiology, pathology, pharmacology, cardiology, surgical techniques, physiologic monitoring, and patient care.
• Assist with insertion of intra-aortic balloon pumps in various clinical settings (OR, Cardiac Cath Lab, ICU).
• Ensure equipment cleanliness and readiness according to manufacturer guidelines.
• Contribute to quality and infection control data collection.

Requirements

• Completion of an accredited perfusionist program.
• Preferred: 3 years of experience.
• Required: BLS certification (AHA only).
• Required: Texas state licensure as a Perfusionist.
• Preferred: Board eligible or certified by the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion.
• Open to new graduates.
• Temp-to-perm option available.

Work Schedule & Contract Length

• Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM (arrive 30 minutes before scheduled surgery for set-up).
• Full-time, 5 days per week, 8 hours per day.
• Contract length: 13 weeks.
