Description

Registered Nurse (RN) - Temporary Position

Location: Owosso, Michigan
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

As a Registered Nurse, you will deliver patient care through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. You will work under supervision and provide direction to ancillary personnel while maintaining professional nursing standards and policies. The role emphasizes superior performance, accessibility, flexibility, knowledge, and responsiveness to contribute positively to the patient and family experience.


Primary Responsibilities

  • Assess physical, psychological, social, and educational needs of patients on admission; complete written assessments timely.
  • Develop and initiate written care plans within 24 hours of admission; update plans at least every 24 hours.
  • Provide emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients and families.
  • Promote patient independence through education on condition, medications, and self-care skills.
  • Ensure quality of care by adhering to therapeutic standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to resolve patient problems and needs.
  • Follow infection control policies, medication administration/storage procedures, and controlled substance regulations.
  • Maintain continuity of care through documentation and communication with nursing teams and physicians.
  • Utilize leadership skills to delegate, communicate with, and evaluate team members.
  • Recognize and respond to changes in patient status with appropriate interventions and documentation.
  • Provide ongoing patient and family education based on daily assessments.
  • Prioritize care based on individual patient needs.
  • Initiate referrals for discharge planning in collaboration with case management.
  • Participate in continuing education, staff meetings, and hospital committees for performance improvement.
  • Demonstrate patient safety practices and support hospital mission, policies, and standards.
  • Provide age-appropriate care based on growth and development principles.

Requirements

Experience

  • Minimum 2+ years ICU experience (required)
  • Experience floating to PCU, Med Surg, or Telemetry (required)

Certifications

  • ACLS (AHA) - Required
  • BLS (AHA) - Required

Licensure

  • Active Michigan RN license required

Other

  • COVID-19 vaccination required (exemptions allowed)
  • Current work history and skills checklist relevant to specialty (within 1 year)
  • Two supervisory references with dates of employment
