Position Details

Employment Type: Contractor
Unit: Medical Surgical (IU Med Unit)
Experience Required: Minimum 2 years
First-time Traveler Friendly: Yes

Patient Care

Patient Types: Basic medical/surgical
Patient Ratios:
- RN Day Shift: 1:4-5 (based on acuity)
- RN Night Shift: 1:5-6
- Tech Day Shift: 1:7
- Tech Night Shift: 1:9

Certifications Required

BLS (Basic Life Support)
ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
NIH Stroke Scale Certification

Skills & Competencies

Telemetry competency required

Unit Support

Charge Nurse (patient-free charge)
LPN support for entire unit
Receptionist available during the day
Centralized telemetry monitoring with tele tech
Hospitalist coverage 24/7
Respiratory Therapist (RT) available 24/7
Phlebotomy support for peripheral blood draws

Technology & Equipment

EPIC electronic health record system
Alaris infusion pumps
Pyxis medication dispensing system

Orientation

At least one shift orientation to learn unit flow
