Description
Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: Madison, Wisconsin
Facility: Pediatric Medical and Surgical Center with Level One Pediatric Trauma Center and Level IV NICU
Schedule
- Evening/Night shifts
- Monday to Friday
- Two 12-hour shifts (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
- Holidays as needed
Contract Length
- 13 weeks
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of acute care experience within the last 3 years
Licensure & Certification
- Wisconsin nursing license or compact license from permanent address state
- BLS certification through American Heart Association (AHA) only
- ACLS, PALS, NRP certifications may be required depending on unit
- National certifications as applicable by profession and state
- Facility-specific telemetry testing and competency exams required for certain specialties
Job Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Operating Room multidisciplinary team for timely patient care planning
- Communicate and coordinate Operating Room activities to ensure surgical case efficiency and turnover
Facility Requirements
- Permanent address must be within 50 miles of the primary work site
- Floating required: may be assigned to multiple units or locations based on staffing needs
- Parking permit required if parking onsite; alternative transportation options available

Compliance & Documentation Requirements
Background Checks
- Comprehensive background check within 90 days prior to start, including SSN trace, counties, nationwide, sex offender registry
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks upon hire and monthly thereafter
- Wisconsin Caregiver Screening within 90 days of start
- Education verification required for RN (Associate degree or higher)
- Strict education and high school diploma/GED verification policies depending on specialty
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam (Aya standard)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray per facility protocol
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccination (proof of one adult Tdap required)
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titers; medical/religious exemptions allowed with approval
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer; medical/religious exemptions allowed with approval
- Hepatitis B vaccination series and positive antibody titer or facility-specific declination form
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required annually
- Meningococcal vaccine or declination required for certain departments
- Drug screening per Vaya standard (not required annually)
Testing & Competency Exams
- Pediatric and Adult Telemetry exams required for inpatient units and specific specialties
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exams as applicable
- Pass/fail testing for EKG/medication with strict remediation and retesting policies
Facility-Specific Documents
- Photo for badge (passport-style, no headwear except religious/medical)
- Communicable disease form within 90 days of start
- Flu medical and religious exemption forms if applicable
- Various vaccine exemption waivers as needed
- Rhythm interpretation course required if remediation needed after telemetry exam failures
Additional Notes
- Floating assignments may require working in multiple units or locations
- Strict compliance with all credentialing, background, and health requirements is mandatory
- Facility requires timely renewal and submission of certifications and exams
- Orientation and safety manual acknowledgments required annually
This position offers an opportunity to work in a nationally recognized pediatric hospital with advanced trauma and neonatal care services, requiring experienced acute care RNs with appropriate licensure and certifications.
