Job Opportunity: Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) - Pediatrics Focus

Location: Sunnyside, Washington

Job Description

  • Position involves working as a Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) primarily seeing pediatric (PEDS) cases.
  • Candidates should be comfortable or willing to learn and take on pediatric patients.
  • Required experience: 1-2 years.
  • Washington State License (WA LIC) required; pending licenses are acceptable.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

Required Credentials & Certifications

  • WA State License: Current WA RN license verification required within 30 days of start. Compact licenses accepted with additional state requirements.
  • BLS (Basic Life Support): AHA or RQI BLS certifications accepted.
  • Additional Certifications (may be required depending on unit):
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
    • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
    • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure)
    • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
    • ProAct (Professional Assault Crisis Training) for Behavioral Health RNs
  • Education verification and diploma/transcript copies required.
  • Background checks including 10-year criminal history, SSN trace, education verification, and state-specific searches (Washington State Patrol WATCH search) must be completed within 30 days of start.

Health & Compliance Requirements

  • Physical exam with physician’s statement within 1 year of start.
  • Fit mask testing (N95) performed onsite; required for certain units.
  • Immunizations and titers required or declinations accepted for:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap
    • Measles (Rubeola)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Hepatitis B
    • Varicella
  • Negative TB test (QGold or T-SPOT) within 30 days of start; chest X-ray if positive.
  • Drug screening within 30 days of start (10-panel, no instant tests).
  • Seasonal flu vaccination required by November 1, or mask-wearing if declined.
  • COVID-19 vaccination required; medical and religious exemptions reviewed case-by-case with masking and testing protocols if exempt.

Documentation & Onboarding

  • Must provide photo for badge (headshot on plain white background).
  • Complete Code of Conduct Acknowledgement and other facility-specific confidentiality and onboarding documents prior to start.
  • New employee information sheet and orientation attendance required.
  • References: Must provide 3 recent employment references.
  • Employment application must be completed and uploaded.

Additional Notes

  • Fit testing and orientation will be conducted onsite.
  • Candidates with latex allergies must notify during orientation and inform their manager.
  • Facility-specific policies require adherence to all documentation and certification deadlines.

This position is ideal for SLPs with pediatric experience or interest, holding or pursuing Washington licensure, and who meet the outlined health and compliance requirements.
