Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: Tyler, Texas
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Unit: 5 North (36 beds, private rooms)
- Patient Ratio: 1:6
- Patient Population: Young adult through geriatric
- Specialty Focus: Medical level cardiac care, including post-cardiac surgery, coronary artery stent placement, pacemaker implant, and stable non-procedural cardiac patients
- Float Requirement: Must float to units of equal or lesser acuity
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Locals: Not accepted from specified nearby counties
- EPIC experience required
Experience Requirements
- Minimum Specialty Experience: 2 years
- Prior Travel Experience: Required (first-timers not accepted)
Certifications Required
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - Required
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - Required as applicable
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - Required as applicable
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure) - Required as applicable
- CHEMO (Chemotherapy) - Required as applicable
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) - Required as applicable
- Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) - Required as applicable
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) - Required as applicable
- NIH Stroke Certification - Preferred, required as applicable
Competencies
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (minimum 80% score or meet/exceed Angoff score)
- Color Blind Testing (online)
- Competency Exam (minimum 80% or meet/exceed Angoff score)
- Core Parts I, II, III (for subcontractors, annual completion required)
Health & Background Requirements
- Physical Exam within 12 months of start
- Fit Mask Test within 1 year of start, must renew annually
- Adult TDAP vaccine within 10 years
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- TB Questionnaire for positive TB results, renewed annually
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required
- Hepatitis B: Positive titer, series, or declination accepted
- Varicella: Positive titer, 2 vaccines, or physician-documented history required
- Negative 10 Panel Drug Screen within 90 days of start
- Seasonal Flu Vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season
- COVID-19 Vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required
Background Checks & Documentation
- 7-year background check within 1 year of start, updated annually
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required upon hire
- Education verification required (highest level)
- Fingerprinting required for New Mexico placements (not applicable here)
- State License verification and NURSYS verification required
- Photo for badge required
- Complete application/resume and unit-specific skills checklist annually
- 7-year work history verification required
This position is ideal for experienced cardiac-focused RNs with prior travel contract experience who are comfortable working in a fast-paced cardiac care environment and meeting comprehensive certification and health requirements.
