Job Summary: Radiology / Cardiology Technologist

Location: Carmel, Indiana
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Work Schedule & Requirements

  • Shifts:
    • Thursday: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
    • Friday: 6:00 PM – 6:00 AM
    • Saturday: 6:00 PM – 6:00 AM
  • Call and holidays required (up to 4-5 call shifts per month)
  • On-call required: one weekend per month plus 1-2 weekdays per month; holidays may be required
  • Weekend work required
  • Guaranteed hours vary by shift pattern (36-48 hours per week)
  • Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays

Experience & Certifications

  • Minimum Specialty Experience Required: 1 year
  • First-time travelers accepted
  • Prior travel experience: Not required
  • Required Certifications:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA or RQI acceptable
    • ARRT Certification
    • Indiana State License (must be in hand before starting; pending license not accepted)

  • Multi-modality CT/XR Technologist capable of performing general X-rays
  • Experience with Siemens, Carestream Portable, Phillips equipment
  • Comfortable working independently at times
  • No floating between units or sister facilities required
  • Unit includes:
    • 2 Phillips IQon CT Scanners
    • 2 Siemens DR X-Ray Rooms
    • Carestream Portable X-Ray units
  • Patient types: ER, inpatient, outpatient, adult, pediatrics
  • Stroke 1 Accredited Hospital

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Valid Driver’s License or Passport (clear copy)
  • Background checks including:
    • 7-year history SSN trace, county criminal, statewide, national sex offender, FACIS Level III
    • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
  • Education verification and official transcripts/diplomas required
  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam required (not for techs or RRTs)
  • Unit competency exam required
  • Color blind testing (Ishihara exam or equivalent) required
  • Physical exam within 12 months of start
  • Fit mask test within 12 months (N95 or approved respirators)
  • Immunizations and titers required:
    • Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella – positive titer or 2 vaccines required, no declinations accepted
    • Varicella – positive titer or 2 vaccines required, no declinations accepted
    • Hepatitis B series, titer, or signed declination required
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap strongly recommended
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start
  • Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 12 months
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (9/30 - 3/31)
  • References: Minimum 2 from recent employment with appropriate supervisory titles
  • Employment application with full work history and explanation of gaps
  • Skills checklist within 12 months and annually updated

  • IU Health policy effective 11/30/2024 restricts Indiana RNs from working at IU Health facilities except for Periop/OR RN’s, Allied, and Ambulatory RN travelers (not applicable to this role)

This position is ideal for a Radiology/Cardiology technologist with at least 1 year of experience, who is comfortable with multi-modality imaging and working independently, and who meets all state licensing and certification requirements.
