Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Roanoke, Virginia
Specialty: Registered Nurse (PCU)
Contract Length: 26 weeks (can request 14-26 weeks)
Shift: 3x12 hour days, 6:45 AM - 7:15 PM
Job Details
- Unit assignment determined by facility need after clinical evaluation
- Patient ratio currently 1:5 in PCU (goal is 1:4)
- Floating within acuity expected as needed
- EPIC experience required
Required Certifications
- ACLS (AHA only)
- BLS (AHA only)
- Other certifications may be required depending on unit (PALS, NRP, TNCC, CPI, etc.)
Licensure & Verification
- State RN license with primary source verification within 30 days of start
- NURSYS verification required for all RNs within 30 days of start
Experience Requirements
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (PCU)
- Years of Experience: Not explicitly stated; assume minimum 1+ year RN experience in specialty
- Prior travel experience: Not required
Compliance & Background Checks
- 7-year background check required within 1 year of start (all locations lived/worked)
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated for renewals
- Education verification of highest earned degree required
- Transcript/diploma required for PCU
Health & Safety Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year, free from communicable diseases
- Fit mask test within 1 year, updated annually (not required for students)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year, updated annually
- TB questionnaire required for all candidates
- Immunizations or positive titers for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B
- Varicella
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
- Seasonal flu vaccination or mask/declination form during flu season
Documentation & Orientation
- I9 or attestation required
- Driver’s License/State ID required within 48 hours of signing (must be within 100 miles of facility)
- E-Verify or attestation required
- Residency declaration form if working on a compact license
- Photo for badge (professional, plain background)
- New hire paperwork and compliance checklists must be completed prior to start
- Contract staff orientation manual review required (not required for inpatient RNs)
- Carilion-specific compliance and confidentiality agreements required within 48 hours of signing
Additional Requirements
- 2 clinical references required (hospital evaluations accepted)
- Complete employment application/resume required
- Annual skills checklist update required
- Radiation badge not provided by agency for new candidates; must be supplied by client if needed
