Description

Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Roanoke, Virginia

Job Details

Unit: Progressive Care Unit (PCU), exact unit determined by facility need after clinical evaluation
Schedule: 3x12 hour shifts (6:45 AM - 7:15 PM)
Nurse-to-patient ratio: Currently 1:5 (goal is 1:4)
Floating: All travelers expected to float as needed within their acuity level
Start date: Flexible

Required Certifications & Skills

ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only
BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only
EPIC experience required
Other certifications may be required depending on unit (e.g., PALS, NRP, TNCC)

Experience Requirements

Specialty: Registered Nurse (PCU)

NURSYS verification for RNs within 30 days of start
Physical exam within 1 year, free from communicable diseases
Fit test within 1 year, updated annually (not required for students)
Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year, updated annually
Required immunizations or titers: Rubeola, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
Flu vaccination or mask/declination form during flu season
2 clinical references required
Completed employment application/resume
Annual skills checklist update required

Additional Notes

Candidates must provide a professional photo for badge issuance
Orientation manual review required prior to start (not required for inpatient RNs)
Some units may require additional certifications such as CPI for Behavioral Health
VA State Police Search completed onsite for certain candidates (home health/hospice)
Floating within acuity expected
