Registered Nurse (Operating Room) - Travel/Contract
Location: Weston, Florida
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
- Work hours: 1100-2330 with liver call; may assist with other cases if no liver/transplant cases available
- Specialty: Operating Room RN with strong transplant experience
- Facility Type: Short Term Acute Care, Teaching Hospital
- Total Staffed Beds: 230
- Charting System: EPIC

Requirements
- Experience: Minimum 2 years direct Liver/Transplant OR RN experience required
- Skills:
- Strong experience with liver, heart, lung, and kidney transplant procedures
- Proficient in MISONIX/CUSA
- Experience with organ implantation (not just harvesting)
- Certifications:
- ACLS (AHA provider card or RQI acceptable)
- BLS (AHA provider card or RQI acceptable)
- NIH Stroke Scale Certification (must obtain prior to start)
- On-Call: Required 1 shift per week plus two 12-hour weekend shifts per month
- Schedule: 3x12 shifts guaranteed 36 hours or 8/10 shifts guaranteed 40 hours; no block scheduling accommodation
- License: Pending licenses accepted; must provide primary source verification within 30 days of start
- Locals: Accepted at same rate
- Float: Clinician may float within scope to meet facility needs
- RTO: All requested time off must be submitted upfront with application
Facility & Compliance Highlights
- Smoke-Free Facility: All travelers must be nicotine-free; negative 10-panel drug screen plus nicotine test required
- Background Checks:
- 7-year criminal background check within 1 year of start, updated annually
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and for renewals
- Fingerprinting: Florida AHCA Level II fingerprint clearance required prior to start; Livescan electronic fingerprinting accepted nationwide
- Health Requirements:
- Physical exam within 6 months of start
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year, updated annually
- Required immunizations or titers: Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
- Seasonal flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions allowed)
- COVID-19 vaccination required (2 doses Pfizer/Moderna or 1 dose J&J); exemptions allowed with approved documentation
- Negative 10-panel drug screen including nicotine within 1 year of start
- References: Two professional references within 2 years required for travel positions
- Performance Evaluation: Required if worked with the facility over 1 year
- Skills Checklist: Must be updated annually for applicable units
Orientation & Training
- Orientation date typically 3-4 weeks out from start
- Pass/Fail testing (EKG/Medication) during orientation required for RNs/LPNs
- Online training modules must be completed by due date prior to start; includes COVID documentation submission
- Modules must be completed on a computer using Google Chrome; video content cannot be skipped
- HIPAA and safety manual acknowledgments required
Additional Notes
- Candidates must carry government-issued photo ID during hours of service
- Facility issues radiation badges to applicable candidates
- Candidates must be aware of time-sensitive modules and complete them promptly once assigned
- No block scheduling accommodation available
- Locals accepted at same pay rate
