Description

Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Opportunity

Location: Cleveland, Ohio
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Assignment in HVTI-Stepdown Float Pool
  • Shift: 3x12 hour shifts (7pm-7:30am / 7am-7:30pm), rotating day/night shifts; shifts may vary based on hospital needs
  • Must work at least every other holiday
  • ECG rhythm recognition test and SafeMedicate pass required during orientation

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 18 months permanent experience in the specialty prior to travel
  • Minimum 18 months recent Cardiac Stepdown experience (travel experience accepted)
  • PCU/Progressive care experience preferred but not required
  • Prior travel experience is not explicitly required

Licensure & Certifications

  • Must have permanent Ohio license or compact state license in hand
  • Required certifications:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
    • NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
  • Certifications must be current and renewed if expiring within 30 days of start

Orientation & Testing

  • Pass Fail ECG & Medication testing completed onsite during orientation
  • Unit-specific competency exam required within 12 months of start and updated annually
  • Online training modules must be completed prior to start (typically takes multiple days)
  • SafeMedicate preparation materials provided

Background & Health Requirements

  • Government-issued photo ID required on assignment
  • Background check required prior to start, including:
    • FCRA compliant 7-year search
    • SSN trace, counties, states, nationwide, sex offender, OFAC, FACIS Level 3, education verification
  • Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required
  • FBI and BCI fingerprinting required within 12 months of start and updated annually; must be completed within 48 hours of signed contract
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, including Snellen eye exam (for candidates signing 4/11/2025 or later)
  • Fit mask test (N95) required within 12 months and updated annually
  • Immunizations/vaccinations required:
    • Tdap every 10 years
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) with boosters if needed
    • Hepatitis B titer or series or declination
    • Varicella with boosters if needed
    • Seasonal flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption (declinations not accepted)
  • Drug screening: Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually (instant screens not accepted)

Employment History & References

  • Application must include 3 years prior work history, with at least 2 years clinical practice in acute care and similar area to assignment
  • Two professional references required from employment within one year of start (manager, supervisor, charge nurse, or director)

Additional Notes

  • Candidates must carry government-issued photo ID during assignment
  • Fingerprinting must be completed both through agency and facility processes
  • Candidates may start with fingerprint results pending if fingerprinting is completed prior to start
  • Modules and onboarding must be completed on a computer using Google Chrome; video training cannot be skipped
  • Candidates with gaps longer than 6 months between Cleveland Clinic assignments may need to re-orient and complete modules again

This position is ideal for experienced cardiac stepdown nurses with strong acute care skills and the ability to work rotating shifts in a high-acuity hospital setting.
