Description

Job Opportunity: RN Medical Center - Telemetry Unit

Employment Type: Contractor
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

  • Provide and coordinate comprehensive patient care on a fast-paced medical/surgical/telemetry unit (day shift).
  • Deliver safe, therapeutic care using evidence-based practice, clinical decision making, compassion, and skilled communication.
  • Lead efforts to create the safest patient environment and best patient experience.

Patient Population

  • Medical/Surgical Unit (MSU) patients including those with diabetes, kidney/liver/heart failure, respiratory issues, stroke, and cardiac dysrhythmias.
  • Unit has 32 beds.

Required Experience & Skills

  • Minimum 1 year of nursing experience required.
  • Prior travel experience: Not explicitly required; first-time travelers considered upon review.
  • Mandatory skills: wound care, insulin gtt, heparin gtt, tracheostomies, chest tubes, nasogastric tubes (NGT), feeding tubes.
  • Telemetry monitoring experience required; centralized monitoring with tele tech support.

Certifications

  • BLS certification required.

Staffing Ratios

  • RN to Patient Ratio: Day shift 1:5, Night shift 1:6
  • Tech to Patient Ratio: 1:8

Work Environment & Additional Details

  • Fast-paced environment with 8-10 patient admits/discharges per day.
  • Floating may be required to MST and overflow units (ICU/Medical-Surgical), but rarely; first-time travelers may float.
  • Support available from charge nurses, unit leadership, hospital supervisors, and clinical resource nurses.
  • Scrub color: Any except denim and camo.

Shift & Schedule

  • Shift: Three 12-hour shifts (07:00 - 19:30)
  • Weekend Rotation: Every other weekend and holidays required
  • Call: None required

This position is ideal for RNs with at least 1 year of experience looking for a challenging telemetry role in a dynamic environment.
