Description

Travel RN Opportunity – Emergency Department, Asheville, NC

Position Details

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Location: Asheville, North Carolina
  • Employment Type: Travel
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks

Unit Information

  • Department: Emergency Department (ED)
  • Number of Beds: 101
  • Patient Ratios: Typically 4:1 for medical patients; up to 7:1 for ED behavioral holds
  • Staffing: Techs available; work includes cardiac monitoring unit, internal processing area, triage, and unit clerks on days and nights
  • Equipment: Baxter pumps, GE monitors
  • Documentation System: Cerner
  • Scheduling: Every other weekend required; no block scheduling; schedule must meet department needs
  • Floating Policy: No floating outside the ED; must be flexible to float within all sections of the ED
  • Dress Code: Navy scrubs required

Certifications Required (Must have before start date)

  • ACLS
  • BLS
  • PALS
  • TNCC
  • CPI
  • NIHSS
  • ENPC (within 90 days of hire)

Experience & Skills

  • Minimum 2 years’ nursing experience in a Level 2 trauma center or comprehensive stroke center
  • Experience in a high-volume ED (>100,000 visits annually)
  • At least 1 year of ER nursing experience
  • Previous experience with HCA preferred
  • Teamwork mentality with ability to coach and provide real-time feedback
  • Flexibility to work in all areas of the ED
  • Advanced skills related to ED procedures

Patient Experience

  • Commitment to AIDET communication framework
  • Respectful behavior and ongoing patient updates throughout the visit
  • Use of patient experience boards to keep patients informed

  • Attendance policy and unit-specific guidelines provided on day 1
