Job Opportunity: RN Medical Center - Surgical Room
Location
- Milwaukee, WI
- Level IV Trauma Center
- Level III NICU
- Advanced Comprehensive Stroke Center
- 228 Beds total, 14 Beds in Surgical Unit

- 13 weeks
Experience Requirements
- RN: Minimum 3 years OR experience (higher value between 2 and 3 years)
- CST/AT: 2-3 years experience
- Prior travel experience: Not explicitly required (first-time travelers with 3+ years OR experience accepted)
Specialty & Patient Types
- Surgical specialties include Orthopedics, Gynecology (GYN), General Surgery, Bariatrics, Plastics, Urology
- Robotic surgery experience required (DaVinci XI system)
- Striker Mako Robot experience for joint replacement (primarily knee)
- No neuro, complicated spine, or baby deliveries
Certifications Required
- RN:
- Required: BLS
- Preferred: ACLS, CNOR
- Surgical Tech:
- Required: Graduate of accredited program, BLS
- Preferred: CST
- Anesthesia Tech:
- Required: BLS, completion of accredited anesthesia tech program
- Preferred: ASATT
Skills Required
- RN:
- Circulating experience in OR
- Experience with DaVinci XI robotic system
- Experience in GYN, Ortho, General surgery cases
- Preferred: Scrub experience
- PACU backup experience for listed patient types preferred
- Surgical Tech:
- Scrub experience in GYN, Ortho, General surgery
- Anesthesia Tech:
- Experience with difficult IV access, Labor & Delivery, Interventional Radiology, Gastrointestinal procedures
Patient Ratios
- 1:1
Support & Leadership
- Anesthesia monitors tele at bedside
- Charge nurse: No patient assignment on first shift; occasional patient assignment on second shift
- Lead nurse takes patient assignments
- OR Educator available
Charting System / Equipment
- EPIC (required)
- Alaris infusion pumps
- Pyxis medication system
- iStat and Hemochron devices
- C-Arm (GE) – staff responsible for setup only
Floating
- RN may float to inpatient units if census is low (no patient assignment)
- Optional floating locations available
Orientation
- 3-5 days (8 hours per day)
- Day 1: Meet with Nurse Manager and Educator, complete required trainings and access setup
- Days 2-5: Unit orientation with preceptor
Scheduling
- Monday-Friday, 0630-1500 (no flex before 0600)
- Weekend rotation based on unit needs (varies by role)
- On-call shifts based on unit needs, including weekends
- Holiday expectation: 1 holiday
