Description

Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Tyler, Texas
Specialty: Registered Nurse (RN Telemetry)
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Requirements

  • Experience:

    • Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required
    • Prior travel experience required (e.g., previous travel contracts)
  • Certifications Required:

    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • NIH Stroke Certification (as applicable)
    • Other certifications may be required as applicable: PALS, NRP, CHEMO, TNCC, MAB, CPI
  • Skills Required:

    • Medical-Surgical/Telemetry nursing
    • Remote patient monitoring
    • Starting IVs
  • Preferred Skills:

    • Cardiac telemetry
    • ER holding
    • Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
    • Phlebotomy
    • Heparin protocols
    • Use of nasal cannula and portable oxygen tanks
  • Technology:

    • Epic electronic health record system experience required
  • Patient Ratios:

    • 1 nurse to 5 patients
  • Patient Population:

    • Cardiac observation
    • Post-surgical observation
  • Unit Size:

    • 14 patient rooms/beds
  • Uniform:

    • Scrub color: Charcoal grey
  • Local Traveler Policy:

    • No local travelers from specified counties (not applicable for most candidates)

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

  • Background Checks:

    • 7-year background check within 1 year of start, updated annually
    • EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG checks required upon hire
    • Education verification (highest level) required
    • Work history verification for 7 years required
  • Licensure and Verification:

    • Primary source online verification of state license required
    • NURSYS verification required for RN license
  • Health and Immunization Requirements:

    • Physical exam within 12 months of start
    • Fit mask test within 1 year of start, renewed annually
    • Adult Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
    • TB questionnaire if positive TB history, renewed annually
    • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required
    • Hepatitis B: Positive titer, series, or declination accepted
    • Varicella: Positive titer, 2 vaccines, or physician-documented history required
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season
    • COVID-19 vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required
  • Drug Testing:

    • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start
  • Other Documentation:

    • I9 form
    • Driver’s license or state ID
    • E-Verify compliance
    • Photo for badge
    • Skills checklist (unit-specific, annual)
    • Employment application/resume

Additional Notes

  • Orientation and safety manual acknowledgment required
  • Competency exams and medication/pharmacology competency testing required as applicable
  • Fingerprinting may be required for certain states (not Texas)
  • Candidates must meet all facility-specific and system-wide compliance standards

This position is ideal for experienced Registered Nurses with telemetry skills who have prior travel nursing experience and meet the required certifications and compliance standards.
