Description
Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Tyler, Texas
Specialty: Registered Nurse (RN Telemetry)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Requirements
Experience:
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required
- Prior travel experience required (e.g., previous travel contracts)
Certifications Required:
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- NIH Stroke Certification (as applicable)
- Other certifications may be required as applicable: PALS, NRP, CHEMO, TNCC, MAB, CPI
Skills Required:
- Medical-Surgical/Telemetry nursing
- Remote patient monitoring
- Starting IVs
Preferred Skills:
- Cardiac telemetry
- ER holding
- Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
- Phlebotomy
- Heparin protocols
- Use of nasal cannula and portable oxygen tanks
Technology:
- Epic electronic health record system experience required
Patient Ratios:
- 1 nurse to 5 patients
Patient Population:
- Cardiac observation
- Post-surgical observation
Unit Size:
- 14 patient rooms/beds
Uniform:
- Scrub color: Charcoal grey
Local Traveler Policy:
- No local travelers from specified counties (not applicable for most candidates)
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
Background Checks:
- 7-year background check within 1 year of start, updated annually
- EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG checks required upon hire
- Education verification (highest level) required
- Work history verification for 7 years required
Licensure and Verification:
- Primary source online verification of state license required
- NURSYS verification required for RN license
Health and Immunization Requirements:
- Physical exam within 12 months of start
- Fit mask test within 1 year of start, renewed annually
- Adult Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- TB questionnaire if positive TB history, renewed annually
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required
- Hepatitis B: Positive titer, series, or declination accepted
- Varicella: Positive titer, 2 vaccines, or physician-documented history required
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season
- COVID-19 vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required
Drug Testing:
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start
Other Documentation:
- I9 form
- Driver’s license or state ID
- E-Verify compliance
- Photo for badge
- Skills checklist (unit-specific, annual)
- Employment application/resume
Additional Notes
- Orientation and safety manual acknowledgment required
- Competency exams and medication/pharmacology competency testing required as applicable
- Fingerprinting may be required for certain states (not Texas)
- Candidates must meet all facility-specific and system-wide compliance standards
