Description

Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Neuro Critical Care (Travel/Contract)

Location: Knoxville, Tennessee
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Details

  • Specialty: Neuro Critical Care (will also float to Medical Critical Care)
  • Start Date: As soon as candidate is selected and credentialed
  • Patient Ratios: 2:1 and 3:1
  • Years of Experience Required: 2 years
  • First-time Travelers: Not accepted (prior travel experience required)
  • Weekend Requirement: 4 weekend shifts per scheduling period (night shifts on Friday/Saturday)
  • On-call: Not required
  • Floating: Position is unit-based but may require floating within scope to meet facility needs
  • Block Scheduling: Accommodated
  • Local Candidates: Accepted within 25-mile radius
  • Pending License: Not accepted
  • Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
  • Holiday Requirement: Must work 2 out of 3 major holiday blocks (Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year’s Eve/Day)

Required Experience & Certifications

  • Cerner experience: Mandatory (no exceptions)
  • Certifications Required:
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
    • Stroke certification
  • Additional Certifications (commonly required):
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - as applicable
    • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure) - as applicable
    • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) - as applicable

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Background Checks:
    • 7-year criminal background check within 1 year of start, updated annually
    • Federal and international searches required
    • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start and updated for renewals
  • Licensure Verification:
    • Primary source verification of state license
    • NURSYS verification for RNs
  • Health Documents:
    • Physical exam within last 12 months
    • Immunizations: TDAP, MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella), Hepatitis B, Varicella, Hepatitis A (for select units), Flu vaccine (seasonal requirement)
    • TB testing: QGOLD or Tspot within 3 months or 2 PPDs as specified
    • Drug testing: 9 or 10 panel drug screen within 1 year of start, updated annually
  • Other Required Documents:
    • Proof of I9 or attestation
    • Government-issued photo ID
    • E-Verify or attestation
    • Residency declaration form (if working on a compact license)
    • Photo for badge (recent, plain background, shoulders up, no filters)
    • Fit testing form for respiratory protection
    • Parking form (facility-specific)
  • References:
    • 2 professional references within 2 years required for travel positions
  • Performance Evaluations:
    • Required if previously worked with the facility for over 1 year
  • Skills Checklist:
    • Must be updated annually for applicable units

Additional Notes

  • Candidates must be able to work major holidays as required by the facility.
  • Prior travel experience is required; first-time travelers will not be considered.
  • Cerner experience is mandatory; candidates without this experience will not be accepted.
  • The position requires flexibility to float within critical care units as needed.

This opportunity is ideal for experienced Neuro Critical Care RNs with prior travel contract experience and strong Cerner EMR skills, seeking a 13-week travel assignment in Knoxville, TN.
