Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Roanoke, Virginia
Specialty: Registered Nurse (PCU)
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks (standard), with options from 14 to 26 weeks available upon request
Job Details
- Unit: Progressive Care Unit (PCU), unit assignment based on facility need after clinical evaluation
- Shift: 3x12 hour nights (6:45 PM - 7:15 AM)
- Optional: 4x12 hour shifts available by request
- Patient Ratio: Currently 1:5 (goal is 1:4)
- Floating: All travelers expected to float as needed within their acuity level
- Start Date: Flexible
Required Certifications & Skills
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only
- EPIC experience required
- Additional certifications may be required depending on unit (PALS, NRP, TNCC, CPI, etc.)—verify based on assignment
Experience Requirements
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (PCU)
- Years of Experience: Not explicitly stated; assume minimum 1+ year RN experience in PCU or similar acute care setting
- Prior travel experience: Not required
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- I-9 or attestation
- Valid Driver’s License/State ID within 48 hours of signing (must be within 100 miles of facility)
- E-Verify or attestation
- 7-year background check within 1 year of start (all locations lived/worked)
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start and updated for renewals
- Education verification and transcript/diploma (proof of highest earned degree)
- State license primary source verification within 30 days of start
- NURSYS verification for RNs within 30 days of start
- Physical exam within 1 year, free from communicable diseases
- Fit test within 1 year, updated annually (not required for students)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year, updated annually
- Required immunizations or positive titers: Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
- Flu vaccination or declination form during flu season
- Photo for badge (professional, plain background)
- Completion of new hire paperwork and compliance checklists prior to start
- References: 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations
- Skills checklist updated annually
Additional Notes
- Candidates must be prepared to complete all required documentation and background checks timely to avoid delays
- Floating within acuity levels is expected
- Orientation manual review required prior to start (except inpatient RNs)
- Facility may require additional unit-specific certifications or competencies
