Description

Job Opportunity: Surgical Services - OR Tech (Travel/Contract)

Location: Manchester, New Hampshire
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Details

  • Role: OR Tech
  • Shift: 12-hour day shifts (7:00 AM - 7:30 PM), 36 hours per week
  • Call Requirements:
    • 30-minute response time
    • 1-3 weeknight calls and 1-3 weekend calls in a 6-week schedule
    • May include 2-3 in-house Sunday shifts (7:00 AM - 7:30 PM) as regular shifts
    • Possible coverage of 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM in-house shifts if scheduled staff calls out
  • Holiday Work: Must work at least one major holiday and its weekend during the contract
  • Surgical Volume: 20-48 cases daily across 11 rooms

Experience & Certification Requirements

  • Minimum Specialty Experience: 3 years
  • Prior Travel Experience: Not accepted for first-time travelers (prior travel experience required)
  • Required Certifications & Licenses:
    • NBSTSA Certification
    • New Hampshire State License
    • CSFA preferred
  • System Experience: EPIC required

Clinical & Procedural Competencies

  • Patient populations: Infants, Pediatrics, Adolescents, Adults, Geriatrics
  • Settings: Inpatient, Outpatient, Trauma, Community Hospital, Level II Trauma Center
  • Skills: Case cart, scrub, aseptic technique
  • Surgical cases include:
    • General, Orthopedics, Ortho/Spine, Urology, Endoscopy/Laparoscopic, Neurosurgery, Gynecology, Neuro/Spine, Ophthalmology, Plastics, ENT
    • CVOR cases such as Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Repair, Carotid Endarterectomy, Abdominal Hysterectomy, Anterior/Posterior Repair, Bilateral Tubal Ligation, C-sections, Dilation & Curettage, Laparoscopic and Robotic Assisted Gynecological Procedures, Vaginal Hysterectomy
  • Department specialties: ENT, Plastics, Endoscopic Procedures, General/Laparoscopic Surgery, Gynecology, Neuro/Spine, Ophthalmology, Oral, Orthopedics, Trauma, Thoracic, Vascular, GU/Cysto, Organ Procurement, MAKO, Da Vinci
  • Age range served: Birth to Geriatric

Orientation & Uniform

  • Orientation hours: 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM
  • Scrubs provided

Background & Compliance Requirements

  • Comprehensive background check within 30 days of start including:
    • Social Security Verification
    • National Sex Offender Registry
    • National Criminal Search
    • FACIS L3
    • Education Verification
    • Criminal county/state searches (excluding NH counties; NH State Police Search required)
    • BEAS State Registry (NH placements)
  • Drug screening: 10-panel drug screen within 14 days prior to start
  • Immunizations & Health Documents:
    • Physical exam within 1 year prior to start
    • Fit mask test (annual)
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within last 10 years (medical/religious exemptions allowed with documentation)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year (2-step PPD, Qgold, or Tspot accepted)
    • TB Questionnaire required for all travelers
    • Immunity or vaccination documentation for Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella (vaccination history or titers required; exemptions require documentation)
    • Seasonal flu vaccination required during flu season (Oct 31 - Apr 1) with medical/religious exemptions allowed
  • Respiratory Safety Clearance required for all clinical travelers
  • Pass/Fail Testing: Basic Dysrhythmia EKG exam required for certain units within 48 hours of contract signing
  • Other certifications required or preferred:
    • ACLS (AHA provider only)
    • BLS (AHA provider only)
    • PALS (AHA provider only)
    • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
    • CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) preferred
    • Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB)
  • Documentation: Copies of professional licenses, tech certifications, and orientation safety manual acknowledgment required

Additional Notes

  • Travelers who have been employees of the associated hospital system within the past 12 months are not eligible
  • Must be able to meet call and holiday work requirements
  • Prior travel experience is mandatory; first-time travelers will not be considered

This position is ideal for experienced OR Techs with strong surgical services skills, prior travel contract experience, and the required certifications and licenses, looking for a 13-week travel assignment in New Hampshire.
