Travel RN Opportunity - Pediatric Unit, Dallas, TX

Specialty: Registered Nurse (RN)
Location: Dallas, Texas
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Unit Information

  • Pediatric unit at a children’s hospital
  • Number of beds: 38
  • Number of staff: 15
  • Shift staffing:
    • Day Shift: 1 Charge RN, up to 10 RNs, up to 3 Patient Care Technicians (PCT)
    • Night Shift: 1 Charge RN, up to 10 RNs, up to 3 PCT
  • Patient ratio: 1 RN to 4 patients
  • Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system: Meditech

Required Certifications and Licenses

  • Valid Texas RN license
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification

Preferred Certifications

  • APHON Chemo Certification (preferred but not required)

Typical Procedures Performed

  • Respiratory care
  • Central line care
  • G-tube/NG tube management
  • Drain care
  • Preoperative and postoperative care

Floating Areas

  • Pediatric Medical/Surgical floor
  • Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU)
  • Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)
  • Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU)
  • Pediatric Oncology

Work Schedule and Dress Code

  • 4 weekend shifts required
  • Scrub color: Royal blue

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of experience as an RN in the specialty (Pediatrics)
