Description

Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (RN) - Operating Room (OR)

Location: Nantucket, Massachusetts
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Work Schedule

  • 5 shifts per week, 8 hours each
  • Variable start times
  • Includes call coverage on nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Call hours: After 4pm to 6:30 or 7am (depending on role/team) during weekdays
  • 24-hour call coverage on holidays and weekends (approximately one weekend every three weeks)

Licensure & Certifications Required

  • Massachusetts RN license (no conditional licenses accepted)
  • BLS (American Heart Association preferred)
  • ACLS (American Heart Association preferred)
  • PALS (American Heart Association preferred)

Experience Requirements

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse in Operating Room (RN OR)
  • Years of experience: Not explicitly stated; assume standard RN OR experience required (minimum 1+ years typical for OR roles)
  • No prior travel experience explicitly required

Housing

  • Shared housing provided at no cost

Health & Safety Requirements

  • N95 Fit Test within 365 days of start date (must be completed prior to assignment; no onsite fit testing)
  • Influenza vaccine required during flu season (Sept 15 - April 30) with no exemptions
  • TB test or negative QuantiFERON/T-spot within 3 months of start date
  • MMR vaccination or proof of immunity
  • Hepatitis B vaccination strongly preferred (or proof of immunity or declination)
  • Tdap vaccine preferred (within 10 years)
  • Health statement signed by MD/DO/NP/PA within 365 days of start date
  • Color vision test within 365 days of start date

Background & Credentialing Requirements

  • Primary source verification of professional license and certifications
  • Criminal background check within 45 days prior to start date
  • Massachusetts CORI background check within 30 days prior to start date
  • Social Security Number trace for past 7 years
  • National sex offender registry check within 30 days prior to start date
  • Exclusion checks (OIG, GSA, MassHealth, NH Medicaid) within 30 days prior to start date
  • Education verification of highest degree achieved
  • Submission of resume including past 7 years of work experience
  • Two recent references required (minimum one supervisor or above)
  • Completion of MGB FEMA ICS 100 Training (mandatory, no exceptions)
  • Skills checklist and candidate submission coversheet required for submission

Additional Notes

  • Respirator Medical Clearance attestation required as part of fit test documentation
  • Positive TB test requires negative chest x-ray documentation
  • Criminal and background checks must be updated if there is a break in assignment longer than 6 months
  • No religious or medical exemptions allowed for flu vaccine or fit testing
