Job Opportunity: RN Medical-Surgical Telemetry

Position Details

• Employment Type: Contractor
• Contract Length: 8 weeks
• Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM (Night Shift)
• Schedule Cycle: 6 weeks
• Weekend Rotation: Every other weekend
• Holiday Expectations: Every other major holiday
• On Call: No call required
• Orientation: 1 shift (facility and unit)
• Floating: Yes, to any Medical-Surgical unit as assigned by House Supervisor

Experience Requirements

• Minimum Specialty Experience: At least 2 years of RN Medical-Surgical experience
• Prior Travel Experience: Not required; first-time travelers accepted

Patient Population & Ratios

• Patient Types: All Medical-Surgical patient types
• Average Patient Ratio: Up to 6 patients per nurse (depending on staffing)

Required Licensure & Certifications

• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) – preferred but not required

Skills & Competencies

• General Medical-Surgical skillset including:

  • Management of tracheostomies and chest tubes
  • Reading and interpreting cardiac rhythm strips
  • Administration of Lasix, Insulin, and Heparin drips
  • Wound vac management

Support & Team

• CNA/Tech support
• HUC (Hospital Unit Coordinator)
• RNs and Charge Nurse
• Rapid Response Team
• Phlebotomy (peripheral lab draws)
• Telemetry monitoring with central tele tech support

Technology & Equipment

• EMR: EPIC (required)
• IV Pump: Alaris
• Medication Dispensing: Pyxis

• Return to Office (RTO) Days: Up to 7 days approved if contract extended accordingly
