Description

Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Olympia, Washington
Facility Type: Short Term Acute Care Hospital
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Details

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse (Med Surg/Telemetry Float RN)
  • Start Date: ASAP
  • Shifts: 3 or 4 shifts of 12 hours, night shifts
  • Patient Ratios: 1:5 (Days and Nights)
  • Floating: Required; travelers regularly float between like units within skill set
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend (EOW)
  • On-call: Not required
  • Block Schedule: Not available at this time
  • Local Travelers: Not eligible if residing within 50 miles of the facility
  • Pending License: Accepted, but quick starts preferred
  • Return to Office Restrictions: None, prefer under 7 days
  • Telemetry Experience: Required
  • Charge Nurse Experience: Preferred
  • First-time Travelers: Accepted

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum Years of Specialty Experience: 2 years
  • Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required

Certifications Required / Preferred

  • Required:
    • BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support)
  • Preferred:
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
    • Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB)
    • NIH Stroke Certification

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

Background Checks

  • Must be completed within 45 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
  • Includes SSN Trace, Death Master Index, Nationwide and National Sex Offender checks, Education Verification, and others as applicable
  • Background checks must be updated annually
  • Specific state and facility searches required for Washington and Oregon placements

Licenses & Verifications

  • Valid RN license required (Washington state or compact license with demographic attestation)
  • NURSYS verification required for all RNs
  • Education verification required, especially for international education

Health & Immunizations

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO
  • Fit mask test required annually (3M 1860, 1860S, 1870+ masks accepted)
  • Immunizations/vaccinations required or declination accepted for:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
    • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (2 MMR vaccines or positive titer)
    • Hepatitis B (vaccination series or signed declination)
    • Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer)
    • Seasonal Flu vaccine during flu season (declination accepted)
    • COVID-19 vaccine or declination
  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 12 months, updated annually

Drug Testing

  • 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (instant tests not accepted)

References & Employment History

  • Minimum 2 references covering 1 year of employment in a comparable specialty/setting within last 3 years
  • Employment application covering at least last 5 years (7 years for APN/Subcontractors)

Training & Competency Requirements

  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam as applicable
  • Specialty-specific competency exams and modules required
  • Providence WorkRamp modules (Core, Specialty, Regional, and Regulatory) must be completed prior to start and annually as required
  • Epic training modules required for EPIC charting system users

Additional Notes

  • Floating policy acknowledgment required
  • Photo for badge required (passport style with neutral background)
  • Respiratory safety clearance required annually for respirator use
  • Skills checklists required annually for applicable units
  • Some state-specific and facility-specific background and registry checks apply

This position is ideal for RNs with Med Surg and telemetry experience who are comfortable floating between units and working night shifts in a fast-paced acute care hospital setting. The contract is for approximately 13 weeks with weekend requirements every other weekend. First-time travel nurses are welcome to apply.
