Description

Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Jersey City, New Jersey
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse
  • Employment Type: Travel/Contract
  • Facility Level: Level 2 Trauma Center
  • Patient Mix: All OR specialties except Open Heart
  • Call: 2 times per schedule
  • Responsibilities: Must be able to circulate and scrub in the operating room
  • Required Experience:
    • Minimum 2 years of current acute care or OR experience
    • Experience with robotic and ENT procedures required
    • Experience in ortho, vascular, general, thoracic, and neuro surgeries required
  • Charting System: EPIC
  • Scrubs Provided
  • First-time travelers accepted

Required Certifications

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) – Required for all RNs
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – Required for adult critical care units, ED, MS/Tele, Outpatient Surgery, PCU, L&D, and RN Manager roles
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – Required for ED, Outpatient Surgery, PACU, PICU, and Pediatrics
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) – Required for L&D, Mother-Baby, Newborn, NICU, Nursery, Antepartum, and Special Care Nursery
  • CHEMO Certification – Required as applicable for chemotherapy administration
  • EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) – Beginner and Intermediate levels required for Mother-Baby and Labor & Delivery RNs
  • Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) – Required for ER, Pediatric ER, and Behavioral Health RNs (online and in-person training required)
  • NIH Stroke Certification – Required for adult critical care specialties, ED, Telemetry, MS/Tele, Cath Lab, and Stroke Center units
  • Other Certifications: May be required based on unit assignment (e.g., Infection Control, Tech Certifications)

Experience & Skills

  • Must be proficient in circulating and scrubbing in the OR
  • Robotic surgery and ENT experience required
  • Experience in ortho, vascular, general, thoracic, and neuro surgeries required
  • Must submit work history and skills checklist for scrub and circulate skills

Prior Travel Experience

  • Not required (first-time travelers accepted)

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Background Checks: Criminal background check within 30 days of start, including alias and multi-level searches
  • Drug Screening: 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
  • Health Documents:
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray as per facility guidelines
    • Physical exam within 12 months, cleared to perform essential job functions
    • Immunizations and titers: Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B, Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap
    • Influenza vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required annually
    • Fit testing and respiratory clearance as applicable
    • Latex allergy questionnaire if job tasks require glove use
  • Competency Exams: Medication test, EKG/Dysrhythmia competency, color blindness test (if applicable)
  • References: Two references within last 2 years, including at least one managerial reference
  • Work History: 7 years of work history required, with verification of at least 1 year prior to start date (New Jersey state requirement)
  • Skills Checklist: Annual update required for scrub and circulate skills

Additional Information

  • Must complete facility-specific orientation and education sign-offs prior to start
  • Must comply with facility floating policies and other internal procedures
  • Must complete annual education and safety training (OSHA, HIPAA, Joint Commission)
  • Must sign job description prior to start for assigned unit
