Job Summary: Registered Nurse - Travel/Contract

Location: Seattle, Washington
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Details

  • Floating: Required at times; primarily NICU and adult floor as PSA
  • Patient Population: Respiratory, GI, Neurology, endocrine, pre/post patients
  • Units: Med/surg, neonate feeder grower, VEEG
  • Average Daily Census: 12
  • Rooms: 18
  • Beds: 19
  • Electronic Medical Record: EPIC required

Licenses & Certifications Required

  • Active Registered Nurse license (WA compact license accepted)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certification
  • CHEMO, EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring), CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute), NIH Stroke Certification, IV Certification, and Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) may be required depending on unit and clinical track
  • NURSYS verification required for all RNs
  • Other certifications as applicable per unit or specialty

Required Documents & Compliance

  • Background Check: Must be completed within 45 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years; updated annually
  • Education Verification: Required for all candidates; international education requires diploma/transcript or CES report
  • Employment Application: Must include at least last 5 years of employment with month/year format
  • References: Minimum 2 supervisor references covering 1 year of employment within last 3 years in comparable specialty/setting
  • Physical Exam: Within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO
  • Drug Testing: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
  • Immunizations & Health Requirements:
    • TDAP (Tetanus/Diphtheria/Pertussis) within 10 years or declination
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) - 2 vaccines or positive titer or declination
    • Hepatitis B vaccination series or signed declination
    • Varicella - 2 vaccines or positive titer or declination
    • Flu vaccine during flu season or declination
    • COVID vaccine or declination
  • Respirator Safety Clearance: Required for all new travel starts, updated annually
  • WA State Patrol Search and other state-specific background checks as required

Facility & Regional Requirements

  • Floating Policy Acknowledgement: Required; may float to other Providence facilities within reasonable distance
  • WorkRamp Modules:
    • Annual regulatory and specialty-specific training modules required via WorkRamp LMS platform
    • EPIC training modules required prior to or shortly after start
  • Badge Photo: Not required for this specific facility
  • Multi-State Licensed Nurses in WA: Must complete demographic attestation prior to start if working with out-of-state compact license

Additional Notes

  • Candidates from other Providence facilities (non-Swedish) are eligible for travel contracts if separated for at least 3 months
  • Active compact license holders are honored at all Swedish facilities
  • Manager will conduct a brief phone call with candidates
  • Screening and offer acceptance timelines are strict (e.g., 3 days for offer acceptance)

This position is ideal for experienced Registered Nurses with at least 2 years of clinical experience, comfortable with floating between NICU and adult med/surg units, and proficient in EPIC documentation. Required certifications and compliance documents must be current and verifiable.
