Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Job - Lafayette, Indiana
Job Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse

- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Shift: 3x12 hour shifts
- Unit: Mixed Acuity Unit (Medical patients with some PCU level care)
- Includes oncology, stroke, cardiac, gastrointestinal, and pulmonary care
- Patient ratios: MS patients 1:5-6, PCU patients 1:3-4
- Patient Care:
- Care for unstable stroke patients, BiPAP patients
- Use of drips including Cardizem, Amiodarone, Insulin, Lasix
- Post Heart Cath and Post Pacemaker care
- Experience Required: Solid Neuro experience required; will accept MS/Tele or PCU RNs
- Locals: Not accepted (travelers only)
- License: Must have Indiana state, compact, or Indiana temporary license prior to start
Required Certifications
- ACLS (AHA only, RQI acceptable)
- BLS (AHA only, RQI acceptable)
- NIH Stroke Certification (required for ER RNs)
- Additional certifications may be required depending on unit (e.g., CHEMO, TNCC, PALS, NRP)

- Effective 11/30/2024, Indiana RNs are generally not allowed to work at this facility except for Periop/OR RN travelers and certain allied/ambulatory RN travelers.
- Must confirm experience with specific drips and procedures before placement.
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Valid Driver’s License or Passport (clear copy)
- Background checks including:
- 7-year history criminal and employment verification
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
- Education verification and official transcripts/diplomas
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam
- Unit competency exam
- Color Blind Testing (Ishihara or equivalent, 100% score required)
- Physical exam within 12 months of start
- Fit mask test within 12 months (specific approved respirators required)
- Immunizations and titers:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (preferred)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella (positive titer or 2 vaccines required; no declinations accepted)
- Hepatitis B series, titer, or signed declination
- Seasonal Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption (no declinations accepted)
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 12 months
- References: Minimum 2 from recent employment with appropriate supervisory titles
- Employment application with full work history and explanations for gaps
- Skills checklist within 12 months, updated annually
This position is ideal for experienced RNs with strong neurological skills who are comfortable working in a dynamic mixed acuity environment and meet the comprehensive certification and compliance requirements.
