Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (MS/Tele)

Job Description

• Role: Registered Nurse for Resource Pool Float on Medical/Surgical Telemetry unit
• Schedule: Minimum every other weekend and/or adjusted to meet unit and patient care needs
• Responsibilities include working with ED HOLD patients
• Start Date: Must start by April 6
• No block schedules; shifts Monday to Sunday
• Bi-weekly orientations on Mondays

Experience & Licensure Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of nursing experience required
• Prior travel experience: Not explicitly required
• NY nursing license or proof of application required at time of submission (note: NY licensing takes 6-8 weeks)
• Epic electronic medical record experience within the past 2 years is required and non-negotiable
• CMSRN certification preferred
• AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required prior to starting

Certifications & Competencies

• AHA BLS required
• ACLS and PALS certifications may be required depending on unit/job description
• Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam required
• Color Blind Testing required
• Competency exams as required by specialty
• Tech Certification verification must be run within 30 days of assignment start
• Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement (annual)

Background & Verification Requirements

• Background check within 30 days of start covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
• Education verification based on highest degree
• NURSYS verification within 30 days of start and updated annually
• Work history verification for the past 2 years of clinical work
• Two professional references from assignments within the last 3 years
• Employment application required
• Skills checklist within 12 months

Health & Immunization Requirements

• Physical exam within 12 months of start
• N95 Fit Mask test required prior to assignment and updated annually
• Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccination within 10 years or titer
• Negative TB test (PPD, QGold, or TSPOT) within past 12 months; chest X-ray if positive
• Annual TB questionnaire if positive TB test
• 2 MMR vaccines or positive titers for Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, and Rubella
• Hepatitis B series and titer or signed declination
• 2 Varicella vaccines or positive titer
• Drug testing within 12 months of start (required for NY facilities)
• Seasonal flu vaccination or exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 – Mar 31)
• COVID-19 vaccination or declination required
• Pneumonia vaccination or declination required for NY facilities

Additional Important Information

• Reliable personal or rental vehicle strongly recommended; public transportation is not accessible
• Vehicles should have all-season or snow tires from November through April
• All employment gaps over 90 days must be explained
• Complete work history details required (bed count, EMR, facility type, etc.)
• Must complete EPIC and Cornerstone training modules prior to start (approx. 8 hours, non-billable)
• Must comply with facility dress code and telephone usage policies
• Various facility-specific forms and consents required, including abuse registry consents and COVID questionnaires
• COVID testing protocol on Day 1 of work may be required, including mask-wearing and social distancing

This position is ideal for a Registered Nurse with recent Epic experience, flexibility in scheduling, and readiness to work in a telemetry float pool setting.
