Job Opportunity: RN - PCU (Progressive Care Unit)
Location: Denver, Colorado
Employment Type: Travel
Unit Information
- Unit: Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
- Number of Beds: 20
- Number of Staff: 40 (RNs and PCTs)
- Shift Staffing:
- Day Shift: 1 Charge RN, 5 nurses, 3 PCTs
- Night Shift: 1 Charge RN, 5 nurses, 2 PCTs
- Patient Ratios: 1:4
- Equipment Used:
- Telemetry, transport monitors, suction, feeding pumps
- Trachs, BiPAP, CPAP, heated high flow
- Chest tubes, Foley catheters, pacer wires/pacemakers
- IV pumps, SCD pumps
- EMR System: Meditech
Required Skills and Experience
- Certifications:
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- NIH Certification
- Licenses: Registered Nurse License
- Specialty Experience: Minimum 2 years in PCU or cardiac nursing
- Required Clinical Skills:
- Experience with drips including heparin, tikosin, diltiazem, amiodarone, nitro, Lasix, ketamine
- PCU experience and cardiac experience are mandatory
- Typical Procedures Performed:
- Chest tube placement and removal
- Removal of pacer wires
- 12-lead EKGs
Work Environment and Culture
- Fast-paced and challenging cardiac unit recognized as a cardiac center of excellence
- High acuity patient population
- Team-oriented with a preference for great team players and high-energy individuals
Contract Length
- Approximately 13 weeks
