Location: Cleveland, Ohio

Job Summary

Seeking a Registered Nurse for a travel/contract position in a Medical-Surgical/Telemetry unit. This role requires adherence to strict credentialing, health, and competency requirements to ensure patient safety and compliance with facility standards.


Required Experience

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse

  • BLS (Basic Life Support): Required for all candidates; must be current.

  • Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement: Required annually.
  • Acknowledgement of Pass/Fail Testing: Required for all nursing positions except OR.
  • State RN License Verification: Must be current and verified within 30 days of start.
  • NURSYS Verification: Required within 30 days of start.

Health and Immunization Requirements

  • Physical Exam: Within 1 year of start; must include Snellen eye exam.
  • Fit Mask (N95): Required within 12 months and updated annually.
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap: Vaccine required every 10 years.
  • Negative TB Test or Chest X-Ray: Within 12 months; annual updates required.
  • TB Questionnaire: Required if history of positive TB.
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella): 2 vaccines or positive titer required.
  • Hepatitis B: Titer, series, or declination required.
  • Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer required.
  • Drug Testing: Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months; annual updates.
  • Flu Vaccine: Required during flu season (Oct 31 - Mar 31) or approved medical/religious exemption.

Background and Compliance Checks

  • Government-issued photo ID required.
  • Background check including FCRA compliant 7-year search.
  • Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks.
  • FBI and BCI fingerprinting within 12 months, updated annually.
  • Education verification required.
  • References: 2 references from employment within 1 year, from supervisors or managers.
  • Employment application must include 3 years prior work history with at least 2 years clinical practice in acute care.

Competency and Testing

  • Unit-specific competency exam required within 12 months and updated annually.
  • Medication test/pharmacology competency exam as applicable.
  • Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication) required onsite during orientation for bedside RNs (except OR).
  • SafeMedicate Prep Materials provided for exam preparation.

Facility-Specific Requirements

  • Completion of online onboarding and training modules prior to start.
  • Modules must be completed on a computer using Google Chrome.
  • Candidates must watch training videos fully before testing.
  • Modules typically take multiple days to complete and must be finished before clearance to start.
  • Candidates returning after a break longer than 6 months must complete modules again.

Additional Notes

  • Candidates must carry government-issued photo ID while on assignment.
  • Fingerprinting must be completed within 48 hours of contract signing.
  • Candidates can start with fingerprint results pending but must complete prior to extension.
  • Physical exam and immunizations must be up to date and documented on official records.
  • Religious and medical exemptions for vaccines are reviewed on a case-by-case basis; declinations are not accepted.
  • Candidates with latex allergies should notify the facility in advance.
