Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (MS/Tele)

Location: Pittsfield, Massachusetts
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Shift: Days, 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM
  • Specialty: Medical-Surgical/Telemetry (MS/Tele)
  • Required License: Massachusetts RN License (must have in hand)
  • Education: BSN required
  • Experience: Minimum 2 years of recent Medical-Surgical experience
  • Certifications Required:
    • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
    • Basic Life Support (BLS)
    • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
  • Prior travel experience: Not explicitly required

Required Certifications & Competencies

  • ACLS: AHA or Red Cross preferred; required for MS/Tele and other specified units
  • BLS: Required for all candidates
  • NIH Stroke Certification: Required for MS/Tele
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam: Required for MS/Tele
  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam: Required as applicable
  • Color Blind Testing: Required prior to start (Ishihara test for certain units)
  • Competency Exam: Minimum passing score 80% or higher if Angoff score is higher
  • Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication): Administered on first day of orientation

Health & Safety Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start
  • Fit testing with 3M N95 Model 1860 mask required for all units including OR
  • Immunizations and Titers:
    • Tdap vaccine within 10 years
    • Negative TB test (QuantiFERON Gold, TSpot, or 2-step PPD) within 6-12 months; chest X-ray if prior positive
    • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines (declinations require doctor’s note)
    • Hepatitis B: Positive titer required; declination requires facility-specific form
    • Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines or history of chickenpox
  • Drug screening: 9-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (instant screens not accepted)
  • Seasonal Flu Vaccination: Required during flu season (Oct-May); exemptions require facility approval
  • COVID-19 Vaccination: Proof of up-to-date vaccination required; medical or religious exemptions require facility approval

Background & Documentation

  • Government-issued photo ID required
  • Emergency contact form required prior to start
  • CORI release (criminal background check) required
  • Standard background checks including 7-year work/school history, sex offender registry, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG
  • Massachusetts Nurse Aide Registry Search required for all candidates in MA
  • Two recent professional references required (within 3 years)
  • Skills checklist required annually

Facility Specific Notes

  • Scrub color: Any color acceptable; scrubs provided for OR
  • Photo for badge: Headshot with grey background, no selfies or professional photos
  • Flu and COVID exemption forms must be completed and approved if applicable
  • TB questionnaire required if positive TB test history
  • Hepatitis B declination form required if declining vaccine

This position is ideal for experienced Medical-Surgical RNs with required certifications and licensure who are ready for a 13-week travel assignment in Massachusetts.
